Piazza dell'Anfiteatro

The Tower is part of an impressive structure commissioned by the Guinigi family, wealthy and powerful merchants from Lucca in the 14th century. It is now the only remaining testimony of the over 250 towers that adorned the city during the medieval era.

Standing at a height of 44.25 meters, its pinnacle features a suspended garden adorned with ancient, majestic holm oaks. To reach it, one must climb 230 steps. The view from this height is particularly enchanting, offering a glimpse of the Historic Center and the distant hills of Lucca.

Pienza Cathedral is a Roman Catholic cathedral dedicated to the Assumption of the Virgin Mary in Pienza, in the province of Siena, Italy.

The Palazzo Pubblico (town hall) is a palace in Siena, Tuscany, central Italy. Construction began in 1297 to serve as the seat of the Republic of Siena's government. 
The outside of the structure is an example of Italian medieval architecture with Gothic influences. The lower story is stone while the upper crenellated stories are made of brick. The facade of the palace is curved slightly inwards (concave) to reflect the outwards curve (convex) of the Piazza del Campo, Siena's central square, of which the Palace is the focal point.

You are then driven to a gorgeous rustic organic cheese farm that sits on top of a hill overlooking the entire Val d’Orcia and even Pienza itself. Here the local cheese producer shows you how the pecorino sheep cheese is made and the many stages of aging from soft and fresh to hard and complex.

You proceed with a visit to a traditional winery on a small farm near Montepulciano. Here you enjoy tasting one of the most famous Italian wines: Vino Nobile di Montepulciano*. The Nobile wines of Montepulciano were the first to be given the ultimate quality level of DOCG certification.

Afterward, you will have some free time in the historical center of Montepulciano before you finally return to your hotel.

Board a morning train to arrive in about 1 hour at La Spezia. A local guide meets you and together you have a fascinating full day-trip along Cinque Terre to visit the most remarkable little towns.

You take the train from La Spezia to Monterosso, the biggest village of the 5 Terre and the only one with a nice sandy beach. The town is divided in two parts. In the medieval one you walk along its alleyways, called carrugi, see the “tower houses” and their coloured facades, the parish church, many restaurants and shops. The new one called Fegina is close to the train station and a sandy beach.

Continue with a short train ride to the village Vernazza, which has a natural pier with an amphitheater shape making it perhaps the most picturesque village of the Cinque Terre. Vernazza was a Roman installation and had big strategical importance during the age of the Maritime Republics of Genoa. It was also famous for its carpenters.
Here you have time for a light lunch before you head to the last village in your tour today by the boat.

Arrive in beautiful and the oldest village Manarola surrounded by wineries. During the tour you explore local sights and of course you see the Church of San Lorenzo dating back to 1338 and afterwards you travel back to La Spezia by train and catch a train back to Pisa.
