The national park is rolling Steppe Mountains with rather large patches of birch and aspen forests. There are also visible remains of Neolithic graves. In addition, red deer and wolf population has increased quite a bit during the last few years, as well as Mongolian gazelle, so you might have a chance to witness these beautiful animal species in their natural surroundings.

Day 4: Trip to Karakorum
Early in the morning after breakfast, you take a trip to the Karakorum enjoying magnificent sceneries of Mongolian steppes along your way.

The ancient capital of Mongolia Karakorum is located on the right bank of Orkhon River. This settlement was founded by Genghis Khan in 1220, and during the era of its prosperity, it was a major junction along the Silk Road trade route. At that time, the inhabitants of the city were mostly merchants and craftsmen who came to the Karakorum from all over the world. Khubilai Khan then moved the capital of the Mongolian Empire to China, establishing the Yuan Dynasty, and since then the Karakorum began losing its importance.

Today you have a chance to visit probably the earliest surviving Buddhist monastery in Mongolia - the Erdene Zuu monastery. It was built by Avtai Sain Khan on the ruins of the Mongolian capital the Karakorum in 1586. Today it is included in the UNESCO World Heritage list entitled as Orkhon Valley Cultural Landscape.

You stay overnight at a ger camp.

On the way, you visit two Turkish monuments located about 60 kilometers from the imperial town of Karakorum. The first monument is dedicated to the Turkish prince Kul-Tegin, and the other - to his brother Bilge-Khan.

In the afternoon you reach the lake and enjoy free time viewing picturesque sceneries and hiking on the lakeshore. You stay overnight in a ger camp.

Day 6: Visit to Elsen Tasarkhai
