Day 1: Arrival
Welcome to the gorgeous ancient city - Edinburgh!
Upon arrival, you are met by your driver at the airport, who transfers you to the hotel for check-in. The rest of the day free so you can start exploring the magnificent city center on your own, dine in one of the local restaurants or take a good rest in your comfortable room.
Day 2: Edinburgh Royal Mile
Following breakfast you get to explore the capital of Scotland - Edinburgh!
Together with the guide you start a 4-hour tour of the Old Town and explore this culturally and historically important part of the city. Today you walk along the famous Royal Mile which connects two royal residences - the Castle and the palace of Holyrood House.
Before you visit the Edinburgh Castle you hear a comprehensive history insight from your guide and visit the castle independently*. Here you may see the Honours (Crown Jewels) of Scotland, the Stone of Destiny, the famous 15th century gun Mons Meg, the One O' Clock Gun inside the castle.
Your guided walking tour ends before you visit the castle and after exploring the castle you may spend time in the city on your own or return to the hotel.
*Note: entrance tickets to the castle are included.
Day 3: Full-day Group Tour to Hadrian's Wall, Roman Britain and the Scottish Borders
Today you have a full plate of adventures and carefully selected activities as you dive into visiting the UNESCO World Heritage sites, smooth valleys, and curvey hills. Moreover, today you see the tiny and alluring Jedburgh town. At the end of the tour, you see the most historical and ancient Roman Empire's frontier - Hadrian's Wall.
Day 4: Departure to Pitlochry via Stirling and Dunkeld
Following breakfast in your hotel, you check out and depart from Edinburgh.
Your day starts with a visit to the city of Stirling, Scotland's heritage capital which is the home to the finest collection of historic buildings in Scotland. Here you visit the Royal Palace, the jewel of Stirling Castle’s crown and view the King and Queen’s apartments. You also see the original, famous Stirling Heads and the wonderful Royal Kitchens.
Then you continue your journey to the lovely village of Dunkeld on the banks of the River Tay. Here you find the Hermitage - a protected site featuring a stretch of magical Perthshire forest. Also known as part of the Perthshire Big Tree Country the Hermitage is home to the giant Douglas firs that you can admire while you make your way to the Black Linn waterfall.
Today your journey ends in Pitlochry, a cozy resort town located amongst the stunning scenery of Highland Perthshire.
Day 4: Arrival
Upon arrival, you have a check-in at the hotel and the rest of the day is at your own leisure.
Day 5: Departure via Blair Castle, Cairngorms National Park, Culloden Moor and Clava Cairns
Following breakfast in your hotel, you check out and depart from Pitlochry.
You start the day with a tour of the Blair Castle, the ancient seat of the Dukes and Earls of Atholl and home to Europe's last remaining private regiment, the Atholl Highlanders and discover the unique story of this castle.
As you drive north into the Cairngorms National Park you take in the amazing scenery, learn some more about the wonderful wilderness of Scotland: five of the six highest mountains of United Kingdom are located within the park, huge forests of ancient native trees are found here as well as cascading waterfalls and rich wildlife.
You then continue to Culloden Moor - the site of the final Jacobite Rising where the Jacobites were finally defeated by government soldiers in 1746. Explore the Culloden Visitor Centre, located beside the battlefield, that features artifacts of the battle and interactive displays that reveal the background to the conflict.
Your last stop for today is a visit to the 4000-year-old Bronze Age cemetery complex - Clava Cairns. This exceptionally well preserved prehistoric site casts a light upon the distant history of Highland Scotland.
Finally you are taken to Inverness.
Day 5: Arrival
Upon arrival, you meet the driver for a transfer to the hotel. The rest of the day is at your own leisure.
Day 6: Exploration of the Isle of Skye
After breakfast at your hotel, you get to enjoy the beauty of the untouched nature in its glory, embarking on a full day small group tour to the famous Isle of Skye.
Early in the morning, you join a small group tour and leave the city of Inverness with the guide-driver, passing the legendary Loch Ness, observing the dramatic Highland scenery and paying a visit to witness the most photographed castle in Scotland, Eilean Donan Castle.
The next destination on your agenda is the picturesque Kyle of Lochalsh, a village on the mainland which serves as the gateway to the scenic Isle of Skye, a place of inspiration for many movie makers, poets, and travelers. Upon arrival on the Isle, you travel around the island’s east coast through the gorgeous Cuillin Mountains, experiencing truly breathtaking panoramas.
Then, you arrive at the lovely town of Portree, overlooking a sheltered bay and serving as the capital city of the island. While in Portree, you have some free time to explore the town and grab a snack.
Afterwards, you proceed to the northernmost peninsula of the Isle of Skye, Trotternish, to observe some unusual natural formations like the Old Man of Storr, Kilt Rock, and the Quiraing, and take some memorable photos of this extraterrestrial place.
Following the tour, you are transferred back to Inverness. The route you take back differs from the one in the morning so you have even more opportunities to admire the Highland scenery.
*Note: the duration of the trip is up to 12 hours. Entrance tickets are not included.
Day 7: Departure to Fort William and Loch Ness Cruise
Following breakfast in your hotel, you check out and depart from Inverness together with the driver-guide.
On the way, you have a stop for a 1-hour cruise on Loch Ness to explore the landscape from another perspective.
Day 7: Arrival
Upon arrival, you have a check-in at the hotel. The rest of the day is at your own leisure.
Day 8: Trip to Mallaig in Jacobite Steam Train
Following breakfast in your hotel, walk to the train station and set off on the memorable trip along the scenic West Highland Line on the Jacobite steam train.
This 84-mile round trip covers the most impressive must-sees, starting near the iconic mount Ben Nevis, passing Loch Morar, and River Morar, arriving next to the deepest seawater loch in Europe, Loch Nevis. Enjoy the dramatic views and see the most famous bridge in Scotland, Glenfinnan Viaduct, featured in the Harry Potter movies as well as beautiful villages of Lochailort, Arisaig, Morar, and Mallaig along the route.
During a short stay in Mallaig, you have a 1-hour wildlife cruise safari. Travel out to Green Island on the Knoydart Peninsular and take a chance to witness wild seals relaxing on the rocks as well as a variety of birds, porpoises, dolphins, whales, and basking sharks frequently visiting the coastal waters.
Upon return, you take a train back to Fort William.
*Note: a round trip on Jacobite Steam Train is subject of availability. An alternative 1-way transfer by car is offered when the round trip is not available.
Day 9: Departure
Following breakfast in your hotel, you check out and meet the driver for the transfer to the train station.
Day 9: Arrival in Oban
Upon arrival in Oban you have a check-in to the hotel and have the rest of the day at leisure. We recommend joining a guided tour at the whiskey distillery.
Day 10: Isle of Mull Exploration
Following early breakfast in the hotel, you take a short ferry ride to Craignure port and here you meet your private driver-guide. Today you witness some of Scotland's most beautiful landscapes and search the seas for marine life including Minke Whale, Dolphins and Harbour Porpoise. During the tour, you may see species including White-tailed Eagle, Golden Eagle, Otter, Red Deer and much more. Before the lunch stop, you step inside an extinct volcano and have a coastal walk.
The lunch stop is planned at the most western point of mainland Britain.
After the tour, you are taken back to the port for a short ferry ride to Oban.
Day 11: Departure
Following breakfast and check-out from the hotel, you depart from Oban.
Day 11: Arrival
Upon arrival, you meet the driver and have a transfer to the hotel. The rest of the day is at your own leisure.
Day 12: Departure
This is the last day of your adventure! In the morning after breakfast, you check out from the hotel and driver takes you to the airport for your flight back home.
