Description for connection

Meet your private driver-guide and explore the sites from the Outlander series on the route from Edinburgh to Pitlochry. You have a first stop by the outstanding Hopetoun House and the grounds vastly filmed in seasons 1, 2, 3 and 4. This home was a residence of the Duke of Sandringham and many interior scenes were filmed here in the Red Drawing Room. The Sea Trail and West Lawn were chosen for the duel scenes between the Duke and the head of the McDonald clan. The next stop is at an atmospheric Midhope Castle, which is difficult to find but worth stopping by. This is Jamie’s ancestral home known as Lallybroch. Scenes of Fort William were taken in the village Blackness with its eponymous castle. This is also a place of the scene when Jamie breaks into the castle, rescuing Claire from the hands of Black Jack. On the way to Falkland, presenting Outlander version of Inverness, you visit a bustling village of Cranesmuir (Curloss), where you can find Gilliss’ house with an herb garden. After leaving Falkland travel down the Fife coast to Aberdour Castle and Dysart Harbour, which was also used in the filming. After the tour, you head to Pitlochry.

Description for connection

Together with your driver-guide, you start the day with a site of Craigh na Dun where Claire and Frank first come across the mighty standing stones.
To make the scenes more authentic the Outlander production team chose to film the episode 5 in the Highland Folk Museum (open from April to October). Today you witness the exhibition of how people lived in the Scottish Highlands since the 1700s and you can talk to the staff who eagerly tell about the film shooting.
Heading north you see Tulloch Homes, the place where Claire first meets Jamie, after passing through the stones.
Then you are taken to the real battle site - Culloden Moor where you find a gravestone marking the mass grave of Clan Fraser. Following the stop, you continue to Inverness and visit Clava Cairns - a place which inspired the author of the book Diana Gabaldon to create such a portal for her series of novels.

West Outlander Tour
Following breakfast in your hotel, meet your private driver-guide and start the tour with a visit to Urquhart Castle, on the banks of Loch Ness. Here you see impressive ruins of a massive castle in the past. Once you are here you understand how romantic that place is and why did the author choose this place for a second honeymoon in the original Outlander book. In the series, you see this place when  Claire spots the “water horse”.

In about thirty minutes from the castle, you have the next stop at Wardlaw Mausoleum near Beauly. This place is reputed to be the final resting place of Simon ‘The Fox’ Fraser, Jamie Fraser’s grandfather.

Continue to a notable place - Beauly Priory, where Claire met Maisri, the Lovat’s Seer, and where she used to spend time wandering alone.

A place not to miss is located in the northern highlands - the Glen Ord Distillery, founded by the Clan Mackenzie. Here you have a short tour of the distillery and taste the Singleton of Glen Ord whiskey.

Before you head to Inverness you are taken to Castle Leod which stands for being an inspirational place for Diana's fictional “Castle Leoch”. In the series, you know this place as a home to the chief of the Mackenzie Clan.

Upon return to Inverness, you take a walk through the streets of the city center and visit the church where Jacobite prisoners were executed after the battle.

After the tour, you are taken to the hotel.

Edinburgh and Surroundings in Outlander
Following breakfast, you meet your driver-guide and embark on a full day trip to explore sites of Edinburgh and its outskirts related to the Outlander series.

Your first stop is at Bakehouse Close, known as Carfax Close. Here, along with the site Tweeddale Court, you feel the atmosphere of an 18th Century Edinburgh, the times when our favorite characters lived.

Together with the driver-guide you leave the city and travel to the outskirts of Edinburg to see the Craigmillar Castle. It stands in for Ardsmuir Prison and appears in episode 3 when Jamie and the Jacobite stragglers find themselves captured.

Next, you are taken to the picturesque mill on the banks of the River Tyne - Preston Mill & Phantassie Doocot which is a must see along with Glencorse Old Kirk - the venue of Jamie and Claire's wedding.
