West Outlander Tour
Following breakfast in your hotel, meet your private driver-guide and start the tour with a visit to Urquhart Castle, on the banks of Loch Ness. Here you see impressive ruins of a massive castle in the past. Once you are here you understand how romantic that place is and why did the author choose this place for a second honeymoon in the original Outlander book. In the series, you see this place when Claire spots the “water horse”.
In about thirty minutes from the castle, you have the next stop at Wardlaw Mausoleum near Beauly. This place is reputed to be the final resting place of Simon ‘The Fox’ Fraser, Jamie Fraser’s grandfather.
Continue to a notable place - Beauly Priory, where Claire met Maisri, the Lovat’s Seer, and where she used to spend time wandering alone.
A place not to miss is located in the northern highlands - the Glen Ord Distillery, founded by the Clan Mackenzie. Here you have a short tour of the distillery and taste the Singleton of Glen Ord whiskey.
Before you head to Inverness you are taken to Castle Leod which stands for being an inspirational place for Diana's fictional “Castle Leoch”. In the series, you know this place as a home to the chief of the Mackenzie Clan.
Upon return to Inverness, you take a walk through the streets of the city center and visit the church where Jacobite prisoners were executed after the battle.
After the tour, you are taken to the hotel.
