Inspired by the grandeur of European architecture during his travels, Russia's legendary emperor, Peter the Great, laid the first bricks of what later became Russia's breathtaking second capital a little over 300 years ago. No visit to St. Petersburg would be complete without time spent in the Peter and Paul Fortress, an exploration of the glorious Hermitage and Faberge museums, a climb up to the St. Isaac's Cathedral or a visit to the colorful Church of the Savior on Spilled Blood. And for an even more spellbinding experience, make sure to save some time for the residences of the Russian Tsars, including stunning Peterhof and the brilliant Catherine's Palace....
