Day 1: Arrival

Welcome to the legendary Venice of the North and the brilliant Northern capital of Russia - St.Petersburg! Your driver meets you at the airport and transfers you to your centrally located hotel for check-in.

The rest of the day is free to relax in your cozy room, dine in one of the nearby restaurants or start exploring the amazing city center on your own.

No meals included.

  • Pre-extension to Finland available: Begin your exploration of Lenin traces in Finland during the 2-day pre-tour extension to Helsinki and Tampere.

Day 2: Lenin's Revolutionary St. Petersburg Tour

Following breakfast you meet your guide and driver at the hotel lobby and go on an amazing panoramic city tour around the most cherished gems of St. Petersburg that reflect the Lenin times.

During the tour you see the Finlyandsky Station and the Lenin Monument. The station is most famous for having been the location where Vladimir Lenin returned to Russia from exile in Switzerland on 3 April 1917, ahead of the October Revolution. Afterwards go to Kshesinskaya Mansion which is home to the Museum of Political History.

You pass by the the last house where Lenin had his last secret apartment from where he walked to Smolny in October 1917.

Then continue to Sestroretsk to see the Lenin Shalash and Saray - the place where Vladimir Lenin and his comrade-in-arms Grigory Zinoviev hid during the summer of 1917 to avoid arrest and prosecution by the Provisional Government. You get to see the Shed Museum (in Russian, Sarai) - a real former shed where Lenin and Zinoviev hid for several days in July 1917, and today there is still a Soviet-era permanent exhibition that recreates the interior of this shed as it looked in 1917. After continue to the Hut Museum (in Russian, Shalash) - a quite large pavilion built in the mid-1960's at the rural site where Lenin and Zinoviev also resided in July 1917 in a hut fashioned from branches and hay.

After the tour you return to the hotel and have the rest of the day free. You may join one of our carefully planned optional tours.

  • Optional tours: Elizarov Apartment or Tauride Palace

Day 3: Cruiser Aurora & Hermitage

After breakfast, you meet your guide and driver at the hotel lobby and proceed to the Alliluyev family Apartment Museum for a guided tour. In this apartment that belonged to a family of a worker Sergey Alliluyev that was involved in the revolutionary movement Vladimir Lenin and Grigory Zinoviev also found shelter in July 1917. Joseph Stalin also lived in this apartment for several months and eventually got married to Nadezhda Alliluyeva, the daughter of Sergey Alliluyev.

Your tour then continues to Smolny (from the outside) - the building chosen by Vladimir Lenin as Bolshevik headquarters during the October Revolution. It was Lenin's residence for several months until the national government was moved to the Moscow Kremlin in March 1918.

One of the highlights of the tour is a tour of the Russian cruiser Aurora. The ship was taken over by the Bolsheviks who were preparing for a Communist revolution. At 9.45 p.m on 25 October 1917, a blank shot from her forecastle gun signalled the start of the assault on the Winter Palace, which was to be the beginning of the October Revolution.

Afterward, you go to the legendary Hermitage Museum, that houses its unique collection of world art, including the masterpieces of Leonardo da Vinci, Rembrandt, El Greco, Francisco Goya, and Thomas Gainsborough, in the halls of the Winter Palace.

After the tour you return to your hotel. In the evening you are transferred to the airport for your flight to Ekaterinburg.
