Day 1 - Departure
This morning you board your hotel on wheels at Rovos Station in Pretoria. This is when your adventure of a lifetime begins! Morning is saved for you to unpack your suitcases and get to know your fellow travelers from all around the world.
Today you will be crossing the spectacular Drakensberg Mountain escarpment, enjoying tea served in the observation car.
Dinner is served in the dining cars en route to Malelane.

Day 2 - Kruger Park
After breakfast on board, you depart for Kruger National Park, world-renowned as one of the largest game reserves in Africa.
Enjoy a traditional safari experience in a company of expertly trained rangers, with binoculars in hand while the guided game drive whisks you away over the rolling hills and untamed bush in the pursuit of the Big Five.
Due to the seemingly endless stretches of unspoiled wilderness and unique atmosphere, the park is considered to be one of the top game viewing destinations in the world and a wildlife sanctuary like no other.
Once you rejoin the train and depart for your next destination, you share the unforgettable impressions with your co-travelers.
Day 3 - Hluhluwe-Imfolozi Park
The first part of the day is free for you to enjoy the spectacular views outside your window, as the train goes towards the oldest game reserve in Africa - Hluhluwe Game Reserve, located in the heart of Zululand.
After lunch on board the train, you are taken for an outstanding experience among the rolling hills and diverse fauna and flora of this famous park.
After the tour you return on board to enjoy your dinner, while Rovos Train takes you to Durban.
Day 4 - Durban Botanical Gardens
Start this day with exploring the charming coastal city of Durban. Named after Sir Benjamin dUrban, modern Durban is the bustling civic and business center of the residential region. The buzzing city sprawls along the rugged coastline before reaching across the Umgeni River and concluding in the resort town of Umhlanga Rocks.
During the tour, you explore the famous harbor, busy wharf and port, as well as Durban Botanical Gardens to see the great collections of sub-tropical trees, palms and orchids.
Once the train departs from Durban, get ready for a Theme Dinner in the African style.
Day 5 - Spionkop Battlefield Tale
After a delicious breakfast onboard, you take a short ride from Ladysmith station to Spionkop Lodge. Here you learn about one of the most dramatic battles during the South African War of 1899-1902. Your local host accompanies you to many historic sights and helps to revive the memories of the past.
After lunch, you participate in another game drive on the way back to the train.
Day 6 - Day at Leasure
Today you have a great opportunity to rest and enjoy the beautiful scenery, chat with other travelers, and take the best of this slow-pace day.
Day 7 - Addo Elephant Park
Today early in the morning you make your way to Addo Elephant Park, nestled between the sinuous Sundays River and the glittering Indian Ocean. The park protects over 350 African elephants, 280 Cape buffalo, and a range of Antelope species. As the third-largest conservation area in the country with a rich history, the park creates a perfect setting for your African adventure.
During the game drive, you explore the history and archeology of the famous nature reserve that envelopes all visitors within its enchantment.
After a busy tour, you rejoin the train at Coerney and continue your exploration of Africa on board of Rovos Train.
Day 8 - Ostrich Farm Visit
Even more wildlife awaits you this morning! You are invited to visit a famous Ostrich Farm to interact with the species whose ancestors have been around since the age of dinosaurs! During the tour, you learn about this charming creature, experience a real working farm, and take as many pictures of the biggest bird in the world as you wish.
Upon return to the train, you enjoy a delicious lunch, as the train departs to George, your next destination for today.
In the town of George, you take a tour of the local Railway Museum to see a variety of 13 steam locomotives, including a narrow gauge, the Emil Kessler- Johannesburg’s first steam locomotive, the impressive GL Garrett together with carriages from a bygone era, such as a coach from the Royal Train of 1947, Paul Kruger’s coach and private saloons, just to name a few.
Day 9 - Knysna Lagoon Ride
Today you are taken to the coastal town of Knysna, a part of the 300 km stretch called the "Garden Route". The lagoon ferry ride is a special surprise for you! Enjoy a cruise along the coastline and keep your eyes open to experience the full wonder of this beautiful unspoiled environment.
Those who wish to shop at the mall - take your time to buy local souvenirs OR join a guided walk on Leisure Island with your group.
Once the train disembarks the station in George, you enjoy the ride along the famous "Garden Route".
Day 10 - Arrival in Cape Town
You spend the last day of your adventure in the observation car enjoying the picturesque views outside the windows. After lunch you arrive at the final destination of your amazing tour!
After getting to Cape Town, you are transferred to the airport, railway station or port, depending on your further travel plans.
