deHamburg, Germany

German port city, Hamburg, is the second largest hub in the country, set at the confluence of the River Elbe in the North Sea. Apart from the amazing architecture, Hamburg consists of parks, squares, canals, and lakes. The largest lake, Alster, formed in the 13th century, is located right in the center of Hamburg and occupies an area larger than the principality of Monaco. It's interesting that Hamburg has 2,400 bridges, which is more than in Venice, Amsterdam, and London combined. The main symbols of the city are the grandiose Neo-Renaissance Town Hall, located in the heart of Hamburg, as well as the church of St. Michael with a 132-meter tower....

deDresden, Germany

Dresden is the capital of German Saxony, located on the Elbe River, just 20 km from the border with the Czech Republic. Dresden has contributed a lot to European culture, primarily with its striking architecture and the rich collections of paintings. Dresden Old Town is quite compact and set around the Theater Square with its wonderful Dresden Opera House in the very heart. Going to the left from the square will lead you to Zwinger, a Baroque style palace with an exhibition gallery while, going to the right, you will find Dresden Castle, a huge complex served as the residence of the electors and kings of Saxony....

    Day 7: Arrival in Dresden

Upon arrival, you walk to your centrally-located hotel for check-in.

Day 8: City tour of Dresden

Following breakfast, meet your private guide and embark on a 3-hour walking tour of Dresden, the splendid baroque capital of Saxony. On the walking city tour, you are introduced to the Altstadt (Old Town) and Neustadt quarter. Despite being destroyed in WW2, it has now regained its unique attractiveness with the architectural masterpieces being restored. Walking through the Altstadt, the center of city life, you marvel at such outstanding buildings as the Semper Opera House, Church of Our Lady (Frauenkirche), Dresden Cathedral and the Zwinger Palace.

You then cross the Augustus Bridge to the quarter on the right banks of the Elbe - Neustadt. Here you see the Golden Horseman, the statue of Augustus the Strong (Elector of Saxony and King of Poland), and find out how Dresden became to be known as "Florence on the Elbe". You also explore the Hauptstrasse, the Baroque quarter and artisan arcades.

After the tour, you can continue the exploration of the city on your own. We recommend spending some free time exploring the bohemian quarter - Outer Neustadt. This quarter, with its narrow streets, became the center of alternative culture in Dresden and is full of restaurants, bars, and craft-art shops.

Day 9: Day at Leisure in Dresden

Today after breakfast you have the day at leisure to continue exploring Dresden on your own. Alternatively, you can choose one of our carefully planned optional tours.
