Full-day Gardens Tour in Dublin
Today you meet your guide-driver for your amzing day trip which focuses on Gardens within the area.
At first you make the way outside the city to the Altamont Gardens. This beautiful old world garden, Robinsonian in style with a strong emphasis on the informal tradition of combining a good plant collection within the natural landscape of its environment. Lawns and clipped yews slope down to a lake surrounded by rare trees, shrubs and a profusion of roses both old and modern with herbaceous plants scent the air. There is a steep descent through the "Ice Age Glen" to a beautiful river walk.
Following the Altamont Gardens you drive to the Powerscourt House & Gardens. Powerscourt Gardens were recently voted No.3 in the World’s Top Ten Gardens by National Geographic.The Gardens stretch over 47 acres and offer visitors a sublime blend of formal gardens, sweeping terraces, statues and ornamental lakes, secret hollows and rambling walks. Managed by Head Gardener, Alex Slazenger and a team of four gardeners, Powerscourt Gardens were designed from 1731 onwards, with the desire to create a garden which was part of the wider surrounding landscape. Powerscourt Gardens include The Walled Gardens, The Italian Garden, The Dolphin Pond, The Japanese Gardens, Pets Cemetery and Pepperpot Tower, among other features and attractions.
