Plan a Trip to Iceland

With the Iceland itinerary planner by Triptile™

The home of the most magnificent nature's marvels like glaciers, volcanos, Midnight Sun, and even Northern Lights is the home of Iceland. Get ready for a lifetime adventure, as there's so much for you to explore and experience!

We promise that your trip to this beautiful country will be filled with exciting revelations and pleasant surprises. For instance, did you know that there is a lack of Icelandic green forests contrary to the country's Scandinavian siblings? That is because Vikings have chopped the majority of them and left the country struggling with reforestation.

Another unique phenomenon that you might notice on your trip here is that there are no mosquitos, but don't get too excited. Biting midges still fly around. Thus, pack your anti fly spray and discover Iceland first-hand.

F.A.Q. about Iceland

Not finding what you're looking for? Our destination experts are here to help!

What is the wettest month in Iceland?

Every season has its own rainiest month. For example, August is the wettest summer month, though it still remains to be a great time for traveling in Iceland as well as doing travel activities as an average maximum temperature is 13°C (55°F) during this month. However, the precipitation level in August is much lower than in October and the winter months. So keep that in mind if you're not a big fan of rain.

Are there polar bears in Iceland?

Unfortunately or not, polar bears do not inhabit Iceland. Though recently they have started regularly visiting Iceland. These species are identified to become threatened by climate change, so this is the reason for the teddy bears to pop over Iceland. All in all, it may seem to present quite good conditions for these species to live here. But don't worry, these nice creatures won't endanger your Iceland itinerary.

Do people in Iceland speak English?

Practically all Icelanders speak English at least at an intermediate level. Iceland schools teach English as a second language. Besides, most people there also speak several other languages including German, Spanish, Danish, and French as well.

Is food expensive in Iceland?

Due to the geographical location, Iceland food can be quite expensive by international standards. Prices in a proper restaurant may vary from 12 USD to 15 USD for the cheapest thing. On the other hand, fast-food options are much cheaper and self-catering, which is good news for budget travelers.

Are US dollars accepted in Iceland?

Icelandic króna (ISK) is the only official currency accepted in Iceland. You cannot pay in US dollars or in Euro, but you always can use your credit card. Or you can exchange your money in Icelandic króna in Iceland. For example, on arrival and departure, you can do this at the Landsbankinn bank, which is conveniently located at the airport.

Can I include a visit to Iceland as part of my Europe trip?
