History: Founded in 315 BCE by King Cassander of Macedon, Thessaloniki has a history that spans over 2,300 years. It was an important city for both the Roman and Byzantine empires.

White Tower: The most recognizable landmark in Thessaloniki, this tower once served as a prison and is now a museum. It provides panoramic views of the city and the sea.

Rotunda: Originally built as a Roman mausoleum and later converted into a church, then a mosque, and now back to a church, the Rotunda is a testament to Thessaloniki's multi-layered history.

Byzantine Churches: Thessaloniki is home to several beautifully preserved Byzantine churches, many of which are UNESCO World Heritage Sites.

Arch of Galerius: Another relic from the Roman era, this arch once marked the edge of the Roman city and now stands in the center of modern Thessaloniki.

Aristotelous Square: The main city square and a hub of activity, surrounded by impressive buildings and with a view out to the sea.

Modiano and Kapani Markets: These bustling markets are where locals buy fresh produce, meat, fish, spices, and more. It's a sensory experience and a dive into the local culture.

Thessaloniki's Waterfront: A long promenade that stretches along the sea, perfect for walks and relaxation. The iconic "Umbrellas" sculpture by George Zongolopoulos is also located here.

Museums: Thessaloniki boasts several museums. The Archaeological Museum of Thessaloniki and the Museum of Byzantine Culture are among the most notable, showcasing the city's ancient and medieval past.

Culinary Scene: Thessaloniki is famous for its culinary delights. From mouth-watering street food like "koulouri" (sesame-crusted bread rings) to sophisticated tavernas and restaurants, the city is a gastronomic paradise.

Nightlife: Thessaloniki has a dynamic nightlife, with a plethora of bars, clubs, and music venues that cater to all tastes.

Cultural Festivals: Thessaloniki hosts the International Film Festival and the International Trade Fair, both attracting participants and attendees from around the globe.
