Cinque Terre Charms in Florence
Get a morning train to arrive in about 2.5 hours at La Spezia.
A local guide meets you at the rail station and you embark on a fascinating full day-trip along Cinque Terre to visit the most remarkable little towns.
You take the train from La Spezia to Monterosso, the biggest village of the 5 Terre and the only one with a nice sandy beach. The town is divided in two parts. In the medieval one you walk along its alleyways, called carrugi, see the “tower houses” and their coloured facades, the parish church, many restaurants and shops. The new one called Fegina is close to the train station and a sandy beach.
Continue with a short train ride to the village Vernazza, which has a natural pier with an amphitheater shape making it perhaps the most picturesque village of the Cinque Terre. Vernazza was a Roman installation and had big strategical importance during the age of the Maritime Republics of Genoa. It was also famous for its carpenters.
Here you have time for a light lunch before you head to the last village in your tour today by the boat.
Arrive in beautiful and the oldest village Manarola surrounded by wineries. During the tour you explore local sights and of course you see the Church of San Lorenzo dating back to 1338 and afterwards you travel back to La Spezia by train where you catch a train back to Florence.
